• Aluminium: It is a lightweight non-ferrous metal which is widely used in home appliances. Aluminium is used in various applications, including soft drink cans and packaging, utensils, kitchen items, ladders, furniture, aeroplanes, and boats, due to its lightweight properties.
• Copper: Copper is well known for its excellent electrical and thermal conductivity. It is used in offices, buildings, and washing machines. Some coins and antique jewellery pieces are made of copper or copper alloys.
• Brass: It is used in door handles, knobs, curtain rods, light fixtures, musical instruments, locks and keys.
• Bronze: It is hard and used in heavy-duty applications like statues, monuments, gears, bearings, medals and trophies.
• Lead is mainly used where protection and weight are important, such as in batteries and roofing shields.
• Zinc: Zinc is used as a protective coating to prevent other metals from rusting. This process is called galvanising.
